He serves as Faculty Head of Strategy, Sustainability and Digital at the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), University of Pretoria, and is Director of the Harvard Business School Senior Executive Programme for Africa.
He holds the inaugural MultiChoice Chair in Sport, Media and Entertainment at GIBS, is an HBS alumnus, and completed his PhD in corporate foresight as a dynamic capability in turbulent emerging markets. As an entrepreneur, Abdullah has built four market-shifting ventures: Frontier Advisory, acquired by Deloitte; Digicars, a globally-awarded automotive group with 10+ dealerships and 150+ staff; The Collective Genius, which has impacted over one million young people; and The Strategists, which he leads as CEO.
He has served on boards including General Electric Africa, iCar Technologies, and Education Africa, and has designed national economic strategy for the Gauteng Premier and Executive Council. He is the author of Disruption Amplified and his forthcoming Disruption Doesn’t Knock — the definitive guide to strategy in a turbulent world — arrives in 2026. He is a regular commentator for CNBC Africa, BBC, Business Day, the Financial Times, Reuters, the New York Times, and the Sunday Times.
